Licensed sponsor London Full-time Posted 2 hours ago

Job Title: Director of Finance & Operations

Department: Leadership / Operations

Basis: Full-time, permanent

Location: Canary Wharf, London - WeWork

Reporting to: CEO

About the role

We're looking for a Director of Finance & Operations to partner with our CEO and leadership team. This is a role for an executor who moves comfortably between the data and the strategy. You'll own the numbers—but also the systems, cadence, and decisions that shape our trajectory.

About Onetrace

Great products start with great people.

Our focus on user experience has helped us become the leading software for fire protection subcontractors across the UK. We build tools that actually work on the ground — fast, intuitive, and simple to use.

Onetrace is growing quickly, recognised as one of the fastest-growing companies in the UK and in London’s construction sector. We’re bootstrapped, profitable, and on a mission to become a global ConTech leader.

Join a smart, ambitious team where your ideas matter and your work shapes what’s next. Learn more about life at onetrace here.

What you’ll do

You will own our financial and operational engine as we scale — bringing clarity, installing disciplined operations, and empowering the rest of the leadership team to focus on growth and product.

As a bootstrapped company, every pound of growth is self-funded, so financial rigour and operational efficiency aren't back-office functions here — they're how we win.

Because we are a profitable, founder-led business, we answer to our customers and ourselves, so decisions happen quickly. You'll partner closely with our co-founders and SLT, with real ownership over how we run, and the trust to move quickly on what matters.

Financial leadership & business partnering

  • Forecasting, budgeting and management reporting the leadership team commits to and reviews
  • Cashflow, runway and capital allocation — deciding what we can afford, and when
  • Unit economics, pricing input and profitability analysis
  • Making the numbers visible and decision-useful across the business, rather than locked in a spreadsheet — so commercial ambition is always grounded in financial reality

Cross-functional leadership

  • A neutral owner of execution across Commercial, Product/Engineering and CX
  • Connecting the functions so strategy translates into coordinated delivery rather than siloed effort

Strategic partnership

  • A genuine partner to the CEO and leadership team — turning strategy into operating plans and holding the organisation to them

Operating system & accountability

  • The leadership operating cadence, planning cycles and goal-cascade ( e.g. OKRs)
  • Decision discipline — decisions made once, documented, and held
  • Owning the company scorecard and keeping the business on track to plan

Operations, people, IT & compliance

  • The tooling, processes and reporting infrastructure the company runs on
  • Leadership of the People, IT Operations and Compliance functions through their respective leads
  • Legal, regulatory and commercial compliance; supplier and contract management

Reporting & team

  • Reports to the CEO and sits on the leadership team, alongside the Director of Commercial & Strategy and the Director of Product Engineering
  • Direct reports: Head of People, IT Operations & Compliance Manager, and the finance function

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • A sharp Finance and Operational leader with experience in fast-paced, high-growth B2B SaaS companies (likely Series A–B stage)
  • Strong commercial finance capability — forecasting, unit economics, cashflow and the ability to turn numbers into decisions that non-finance people act on
  • Proven experience in value-based pricing, designing and executing pricing strategies and value metrics that maximise revenue potential
  • A track record of installing operating rhythm and accountability in a growing company, and making it stick beyond the launch
  • Proven ability to design and implement financial planning processes and internal controls
  • Highly analytical with a proven ability to build and maintain models, forecasts and reporting frameworks
  • The gravitas and communication to hold a leadership team, founders included, to its commitments
  • Comfort being hands-on and strategic at the same time — building the function while running it
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with business leaders to drive performance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field
  • ACA or CIMA qualification, with around 5 to 7+ years' post-qualification experience

Highly desirable

  • Experience in construction tech or adjacent industries
  • Master’s degree specialising in Finance or Business Administration

Hybrid guidelines

We operate on a hybrid working model, with the team coming in between 2-3 days per week in the office. We’ll discuss your preferences during the 1st stage to ensure alignment.
