Unity Education Trust are recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our education team at our Earthsea School to start as soon as possible

Earthsea School is a small, specialist primary provision within Unity Education Trust Compass School, supporting pupils aged 5-11 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

At Earthsea, we believe every pupil deserves to achieve their full potential and to leave school each day feeling a genuine sense of pride in themselves. We provide a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment, where pupils are supported holistically and empowered through a strong sense of community, belonging, and high expectations. Our learners are encouraged to make significant academic and social progress based on their individual starting points.

The successful candidate will have experience of

Covering lessons and following a plan.

Plan, prepare, and deliver tailored lessons and activities to meet the pupil's educational goals and objectives.

  • Implement effective strategies, interventions, and support plans to address the pupil's specific learning difficulties or behavioural challenges.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, encouraging their social integration and promoting positive relationships with peers.
  • Liaise with parents, providing regular updates on the pupil's progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting pupils with specific educational needs.

You must

Hold a relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role or be willing to undertake further training.

Exhibit strong organisational abilities and the capacity to manage individualised education plans effectively.

  • Show flexibility, adaptability, and resilience when faced with challenges or changing circumstances.

If you are passionate about making a difference and thrive in a role that requires empathy, adaptability and determination, we would love to hear from you.

Please note that the role does involve some regular physical activity e.g. restrictive physical interventions, interacting with students through play on the floor and responding promptly to escalated situations. This does not remove our obligation to make adjustments where appropriate.

If you would like an informal chat about this exciting role or arrange a visit to our school, please contact Sarah Bennison on sbennison@ear.unity-ed.uk or telephone Earthsea school on 01603 881045.
