About the Role

We are seeking an Interim Head of International to provide leadership, direction and continuity across the University’s international activities through a short-term internal secondment. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your leadership experience and make a positive contribution to the University’s international ambitions.

You will lead and coordinate a broad portfolio encompassing direct international student recruitment, international marketing and promotion, transnational education (TNE), global opportunities, mobility and international partnership development. Working closely with senior colleagues, Faculties, Professional Services and external partners, you will translate agreed priorities into clear plans and activity, maintain momentum against established objectives and ensure resources and expertise are focused effectively.

Using market intelligence, recruitment data and sector insight, you will monitor performance, identify opportunities and risks, and make evidence-based recommendations. You will also oversee relationships with recruitment agents and education partners, support appropriate due diligence and governance, manage budgets within delegated authority and ensure relevant regulatory, quality and risk requirements are maintained.

International travel may be required as part of this role.

About You

As Interim Head of International you will be an experienced leader with a strong track record of managing and developing teams, delivering organisational priorities and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries. You will have significant experience at senior managerial or expert level within international higher education, international student recruitment, marketing or a closely related field.

You will bring highly developed strategic, analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, use data to inform decisions and balance opportunity, risk, financial considerations and institutional priorities. You will be confident advising and influencing senior colleagues, building productive relationships across different cultural contexts and maintaining momentum in a complex and changing environment.

You will be proactive, pragmatic and inclusive in your approach, able to set clear priorities, support colleagues and create a collaborative, delivery-focused working environment. Knowledge of the regulatory, immigration, political and policy environment affecting international student recruitment is essential, together with an appreciation of the contribution internationalisation and global opportunities make to the experience of both international and home students.
