Who Are CSL Looking For?
We're looking for an experienced IoT Senior Business Development Manager to drive new business growth for CSL across Europe. This is a pure new business hunting role: you'll own the full sales cycle, from identifying and opening doors with target organisations, through shaping solutions and leading complex tender responses, to negotiating and closing large, multi-year IoT connectivity deals that create significant recurring revenue.
You'll bring an established network across the IoT ecosystem – device manufacturers, solution providers, system integrators, and enterprise buyers – and a proven track record of winning major deals through formal procurement processes, including tenders, RFPs, and RFIs. You'll work alongside our technical, product, bid, and commercial teams to put forward compelling propositions built on CSL's critical connectivity, multi-network resilience, and eSIM capability.
This is a high-impact role for a senior hunter who wants to make a visible difference in a fast-growing, private equity-backed business, with real influence over how we win in new markets and an incentive plan designed to reward large, high-value deals.
Duties & Responsibilities
This role will encompass a range of responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Identify, target, and win new logos across Europe, focusing on large-scale IoT connectivity opportunities with significant recurring revenue potential
- Build and execute a territory and account plan aligned to CSL's priority sectors and markets
- Open doors at senior level using your existing network, referrals, and targeted outbound activity
- Own a largely self-generated pipeline, maintaining the coverage needed to consistently deliver against targets
- Tenders & Complex Deal Leadership
- Lead CSL's response to tenders, RFPs, RFIs, and other formal procurement processes, from qualification and bid/no-bid decisions through to final submission
- Coordinate technical, product, legal, finance, and bid colleagues to build compelling, compliant, and commercially sound proposals
- Shape deal structures, pricing, and commercial terms, including minimum commitments and rollout plans, working within CSL's bid approval process
- Negotiate and close multi-year contracts with end customers and channel partners
- Solution Selling
- Understand customer use cases, device estates, and deployment plans to position the right mix of CSL connectivity, platform, and service capabilities
- Present complex IoT propositions clearly and confidently to technical, procurement, and executive audiences
- Build business cases that demonstrate value and clearly differentiate CSL from competitors
- Market & Partner Development
- Maintain a sharp view of the European IoT market, competitor activity, and procurement trends
- Develop relationships with OEMs, system integrators, solution providers, and industry bodies that open routes to large-scale opportunities
- Represent CSL at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to raise our profile and grow your network
- Pipeline, Forecasting & Handover
- Manage opportunities rigorously in the CRM (e.g. Salesforce), with accurate forecasting and deal reporting
- Work closely with Marketing and Sales Development to sharpen targeting and turn campaign activity into qualified opportunity
- Ensure a smooth handover to onboarding and account management so that won deals roll out on plan and convert into billed revenue
Key Skills & Qualifications Sought
- Significant B2B new business sales experience (typically 8+ years), with a substantial part of that in IoT, M2M, or telecoms connectivity
- An established, active network across the European IoT ecosystem that you can bring to bear from day one
- A proven track record of winning major IoT deals, ideally multi-year contracts delivering six- and seven-figure annual recurring revenue
- Strong experience leading or contributing to tender, RFP, and RFI responses, across both public and private sector procurement
- Solid understanding of IoT connectivity, including cellular technologies (4G, 5G, LTE-M, NB-IoT), multi-network and roaming solutions, eSIM, and connectivity management platforms
- Confident negotiator, comfortable structuring complex commercial deals and engaging at C-level
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex propositions simple
- A resilient, self-motivated hunter mentality – you thrive on opening new doors rather than managing existing accounts
- Comfortable working across a European territory, with regular travel to customers, partners, and industry events
- Fluent English essential; additional European languages a strong plus
- Experience in one or more of CSL's target sectors (Building & Security, Healthcare & Telecare, Infrastructure, Retail & Hospitality, Transport & Logistics) is desirable
What Success Looks Like
- A strong, largely self-generated pipeline of large-scale new business opportunities across Europe
- Major new logos signed on multi-year contracts that create significant, sustainable recurring revenue
- High-quality tender and RFP submissions delivered on time, with a strong win rate on qualified bids
- Won deals rolling out successfully and converting into billed revenue
- CSL increasingly recognised as a credible, go-to connectivity partner in the European IoT market
