Our upcoming game based on the hit TV series The Traitors.
We’re looking for an experienced Project Lead Writer to join us and play a key role in bringing this new experience to life, while also leading narrative delivery across one of our live projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior writer who wants to combine creative storytelling, leadership and project ownership working with a talented multidisciplinary team to create an experience that players will genuinely want to get stuck into.
About the Role
As Project Lead Writer, you’ll take a leading role in the delivery of narrative content, from initial concepts through to release.
You’ll combine exceptional writing and editing skills with strong project management, people leadership and stakeholder management. You’ll be responsible for maintaining narrative quality while keeping the team moving towards key milestones and delivering an experience that feels authentic, engaging and true to its IP.
You’ll work closely with writers, Narrative, Production, Product, Design, QA and external IP partners, helping turn creative ideas into polished, player-ready content.
What you'll be doing
Project & Narrative Leadership
- Lead the narrative delivery of a complete game season from concept through to release.
- Play a key role in the narrative development of our upcoming The Traitors game.
- Own narrative planning alongside Production and the Narrative Producer.
- Coordinate and lead writers' rooms, script development, reviews, rewrites, playtesting and launch.
- Ensure narrative milestones are delivered on time and to an exceptionally high standard.
- Identify opportunities to improve narrative workflows, processes and ways of working.
Writing & Creative Quality
- Write, edit and review interactive scripts to an exceptional standard.
- Maintain consistency across character voice, tone, branching narrative and player agency.
- Ensure narrative content aligns with the IP, creative vision and Fusebox's narrative standards.
- Identify and resolve narrative and quality issues before release.
- Champion best practice across interactive fiction, narrative design and game writing.
- Help ensure the player's experience feels compelling, cohesive and emotionally engaging.
Team Leadership
- Line manage and develop a team of writers across different experience levels.
- Run regular 1:1s, performance reviews and development conversations.
- Coach writers to strengthen their storytelling, technical writing and delivery.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and development of new team members.
- Create a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing creative environment.
- Help writers develop their skills while maintaining a clear focus on delivery.
Stakeholder & IP Management
- Build strong relationships across Product, Production, QA, Art and Design.
- Work closely with external IP partners throughout development.
- Present creative ideas, narrative documentation and project updates with confidence.
- Balance creative ambition with gameplay, monetisation and production requirements.
- Help translate IP requirements into engaging interactive experiences for players.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced narrative leader who can move comfortably between writing, editing, creative problem-solving and project leadership.
You'll ideally have:
- Extensive professional experience writing narrative content for games or interactive media.
- Experience leading writers or narrative teams on large-scale creative projects.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with outstanding attention to detail.
- A strong understanding of branching narrative, player agency and interactive storytelling.
- Experience working with licensed IP or established brands.
- Strong planning, prioritisation and project management skills.
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative, positive and solutions-focused leadership style.
- The ability to give clear creative direction while empowering writers to do their best work.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience working on mobile free-to-play games.
- Experience working on live-service products.
- Experience with narrative design tools and scripting pipelines.
- Experience using player data and insights to inform narrative decisions.
- Experience collaborating with external licensors or commercial partners.
- A genuine passion for games, interactive storytelling and creating memorable player experiences.
