Your role within the team:
About the Role
- For our growing pet food supplement brand, we are seeking an experienced QARA Consultant to provide short-term, hands-on support to our existing teams.
- The successful candidate will bring proven experience in product development, quality systems, manufacturing controls, regulatory compliance, and technical oversight, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen quality and compliance across our operations.
- Our objective is clear: to deliver products right first time, with zero quality defects from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
The consultant will
- Lead and support CM audits and qualification, including new and existing CMs.
- Support product development activities and ensure manufacturing readiness before first production.
- Work directly with CMs to develop specifications, control plans, and quality requirements.
- Collect, review, and organise all technical, quality, feed safety, and regulatory documentation from CMs.
- Support chew product development and co-manufacturer qualification activities.
- Strengthen our internal QMS and implement robust quality, feed safety, and compliance processes.
- Provide expertise across Product Development, Quality, Feed Safety, Regulatory, and Technical disciplines for pet food.
A key focus will be ensuring all Product Development, Quality, Feed Safety, Regulatory, Technical, and Operational prerequisites are fully addressed prior to first production, enabling a smooth transition and long-term manufacturing success.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in pet food, pet supplements, veterinary products, or animal nutrition.
- Strong expertise in Product Development, Quality Assurance, Feed Safety Regulatory Affairs, and Technical Operations.
- Experience working in manufacturing facilities.
- Proven experience managing contract manufacturers.
- Experience conducting supplier and manufacturing audits.
- Good knowledge of formulation principles and a solid understanding of the constraints associated with their application at industrial scale.
- Demonstrated ability to work hands-on with manufacturing partners to establish robust quality controls and operational standards.
