Sitting within the wider Human Resources department, the team comprises a Senior Recruitment Manager, a Senior Recruitment Adviser, two Recruitment Advisers and a Recruitment Assistant.
The team is responsible for recruiting all new hires across the fee-earning and business services groups on a permanent, contract and temporary basis, with the exception of trainee associates. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded, curious and solutions-focussed individual to join a busy and friendly team.
The role
Key responsibilities include
- building strong relationships with hiring managers and senior stakeholders across the firm's business services functions (Document Production, Finance, Human Resources, Innovation and AI, Marketing and Risk Management);
- developing an understanding of the firm and what we look for in a hire;
- working with each team to understand their function, objectives and culture;
- acting as a trusted adviser on recruitment matters, giving informed guidance on the external market, salary expectations and realistic timescales;
- helping hiring managers define the skills, experience and behaviours a role requires;
- drafting clear, accurate and appealing job descriptions, including for newly created roles where the scope still needs to be shaped, ensuring they are consistent with the firm’s framework and style;
- managing the full recruitment cycle, from taking the brief to offer acceptance;
- building relationships with key recruitment agencies, instructing on vacancies and encouraging a diverse shortlist of candidates;
- running screening calls and attending interviews, using structured, competency-based methods to assess candidates fairly and consistently, ensuring the firm makes the right hires;
- creating suitable interview exercises where appropriate;
- providing hiring managers and candidates with timely, constructive updates and feedback, managing expectations and ensuring a positive experience throughout;
- managing the offer process including advising on salaries and seeking internal approval;
- proactively responding to business needs with speed and accuracy, seeking ideas and solutions;
- supporting recruitment team members during busy periods;
- contributing ideas to improve the recruitment process and the candidate experience; and
- maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current and relevant employment legislation.
This job description encompasses the main duties of the role and is by no means exhaustive. It is anticipated that duties may vary from time to time according to the needs of the department.
The candidate
We are seeking an experienced recruitment professional with at least three years' experience, gained either as a consultant within a recruitment agency or as an in-house recruitment adviser, ideally recruiting for business services roles. They will have proven experience of end-to-end recruitment, managing multiple vacancies at once across a range of seniority levels, and of managing the offer process, including advising on salary and negotiating with candidates.
The ideal candidate will also
- give credible advice that instils confidence in stakeholders;
- be an excellent communicator, with experience of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels;
- be an effective prioritiser, comfortably and efficiently handling several tasks at once;
- thrive in a fast-paced environment;
- remain resilient and calm under pressure; and
- work with a high degree of accuracy.
Application screening
Any offer of employment with us is subject to our pre-employment checks which are conducted by a third-party screening provider. These checks will be initiated with your consent, and your CV will be sent to the provider by us. The screening will include, but is not limited to, your employment references, professional and academic qualifications including grades and any criminal records. Your offer will be subject to the successful completion of these checks.
