Position Summary
Position Summary
Join an entrepreneurial Applied AI team building products for lawyers and Business Services colleagues across White & Case.
Working for the Associate Director, Applied AI, you will take day-to-day product ownership of Atlas: both our Firmwide AI chatbot and the shared integration and governance platform connecting AI applications to Firm data and systems (whitecase.com/news/media/white-case-launches-ai-assistant-atlas-ai-strategy-and-roadmap).
Developing the Atlas Platform into a world-class foundation for the Firm’s AI products is central to this role. You will shape its roadmap so that teams can connect new skills, tools and data sources quickly, securely and consistently, while preserving flexibility across AI providers. Alongside this, you will develop the Atlas Chatbot as a reliable, capable and cost-effective everyday service.
This is a hands-on product leadership role for someone who builds to think. You will move between product strategy, user workflows and understanding technical implementation, using rapid prototypes and structured evaluation to test assumptions before committing engineering capacity.
You will not be expected to know every technical answer in advance. You will be expected to learn quickly, use AI-assisted development tools effectively and take personal responsibility for establishing whether an idea works. This includes building functional prototypes, examining system behaviour, creating evaluation pipelines and using evidence to decide whether an approach should be changed, stopped, productionised or scaled.
Over time, you will take on other applications as they move from validated prototypes into production and wider use. We are looking for someone who brings the ownership, pace and practical judgment of a startup product team, while recognising the controls required in a global law firm.
Duties And Accountabilities
- Own distinct but coordinated roadmaps for Atlas Platform and the chatbot, balancing user needs, shared capabilities, reliability and cost.
- Translate user problems and operational needs into testable hypotheses, working prototypes, evaluation plans and clear product requirements.
- Take ownership of selected applications after initial validation, establishing their roadmap, launch plans and ongoing product direction.
- Build rapid, functional PoC using AI-assisted development tools to validate workflows and features before production investment.
- Use AI-native workflows across discovery, prototyping, implementation, review, testing and documentation to increase the speed and quality of product development.
- Work with Technology, security and risk colleagues to translate requirements for permissions, ethical screens, client restrictions and auditability into platform priorities and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritise platform integrations with engineering and system owners, making reusable connections available to multiple AI applications through the Firm’s MCP gateway.
- Understand the needs of both end users and teams building on the platform; turn their feedback into testable hypotheses, working prototypes and clear product requirements, then work with engineers to productionise successful approaches.
- Measure platform reliability, integration lead times and reuse alongside chatbot task success, adoption and operating costs.
- Share prototypes and evaluation evidence with engineering, security and risk teams to support decisions about productionisation, controls and scaling.
- Coordinate release readiness and adoption, resolving dependencies across delivery partners, operational teams and the wider business.
Required Skills
- Substantial hands-on software product management experience in a startup, scale-up or similarly autonomous team.
- A track record of shipping products and improving their adoption and value after launch.
- Strong product judgment, user research and analytical skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and prioritise.
- Ability to turn experimental results into clear product decisions, including when to iterate, stop, productionise or scale an approach.
- Experience working directly with engineers as a technical peer; with the ability to prototype solutions, discuss APIs, integrations, shared platform capabilities and delivery trade-offs.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate learning, prototyping, review, testing or documentation.
- An active interest in applied AI, an ability to learn quickly, and sound judgment around sensitive data and consequential workflows.
- Clear communication and the ability to establish priorities with senior stakeholders while keeping delivery moving.
Preferred Experience
Experience with API-connected products, MCP, developer tools, workflow software or shared services used by multiple products would be valuable. Product analytics, consumption-based pricing, and fintech or another regulated or trust-sensitive business are also relevant. A legal background is not required.
Location and Reporting
- This role is based in London, United Kingdom.
- You will report to the Associate Director, Applied AI. The Applied AI team forms part of the wider Innovation & AI team.
You do not need to meet every criterion above. If the role interests you and you believe you can learn the areas where you have less experience, we encourage you to apply.
