  • Develop and implement project commissioning strategies, schedules, procedures, test plans, and work instructions.
  • Manage subsystem testing, system testing, energisation, trial operation, reliability runs, and final acceptance activities.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are executed safely and in compliance with project specifications, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and customer standards.
  • Monitor commissioning progress against project milestones and implement recovery plans where required to mitigate schedule risks.
  • Coordinate commissioning interfaces between Engineering, Construction, Operations, suppliers, contractors, and customers.
  • Lead the resolution of technical issues, punch points, defects, and non-conformities to achieve successful project completion.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, test reports, system completion records, turnover packages, and handover dossiers.
  • Identify commissioning risks and implement mitigation measures to support safe and successful delivery.
  • Support customer inspections, witnessing activities, and final acceptance processes.
  • Drive commissioning excellence through effective planning, execution, and stakeholder management.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant commissioning experience within HVDC, High Voltage, Substation, Transmission & Distribution, or Grid Integration projects.
  • Proven experience leading commissioning activities on large-scale power, energy, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning planning, testing methodologies, energisation processes, and operational handover requirements.
  • Experience managing commissioning programmes involving multiple stakeholders and contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and quality requirements within high-voltage environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project risks, technical challenges, and schedule-critical activities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strong customer relationships.
  • TP141A certification is highly desirable.
  • Previous National Grid project experience or experience working within National Grid operational environments is strongly preferred.
