Senior Software Engineer – Regulatory Technology
The Opportunity
JUXT is partnering with a leading financial institution to find an experienced, hands-on Senior Software Engineer to help build, maintain and improve critical regulatory technology systems.
This is an opportunity for a self-sufficient engineer who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex technical problems and delivering practical solutions in a fast-moving financial services environment. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their challenges, identify opportunities for improvement and make informed decisions about what to build, automate, optimise or replace.
The role offers significant technical ownership, with the opportunity to design and develop frameworks and tools from the ground up rather than simply extending existing systems. You will be encouraged to make pragmatic engineering decisions, balancing delivery speed, maintainability and technical debt.
AI-assisted development will be an important part of your workflow, alongside a strong focus on software quality, testing, observability and operational reliability.
Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain software supporting regulatory technology and compliance-related processes.
- Build frameworks, tools and applications from scratch to address complex business and technical challenges.
- Take ownership of existing systems, identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, maintainability and operational efficiency.
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand requirements, solve problems and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Make pragmatic decisions around architecture, technology choices and technical debt, balancing immediate delivery with long-term sustainability.
- Develop automated testing, data validation and reconciliation capabilities to improve data quality and confidence in system outputs.
- Apply modern software engineering practices, including continuous integration, automated testing and appropriate observability.
- Incorporate AI-assisted development tools into everyday engineering workflows to accelerate delivery and improve productivity.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring systems remain reliable and fit for purpose.
- Stay curious about emerging technologies and continuously improve engineering practices.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Strong commercial software engineering experience, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical problems.
- Experience designing and building frameworks, tools or systems from the ground up.
- A pragmatic approach to software delivery, with sound judgement around technical debt and architectural trade-offs.
- Experience with modern software architecture and cloud platforms.
- A strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including automated testing, code quality and maintainable design.
- A focus on observability, reliability and the operational health of software systems.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools as a meaningful part of the software development workflow.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex challenges into practical solutions.

Nice to have
Desirable Experience
- Direct experience with regulatory reporting or market surveillance systems.
- Familiarity with financial regulatory regimes such as EMIR, MiFIR and MAR.
- Experience working within or alongside a compliance function at a trading firm, hedge fund or investment bank.
- Experience developing data validation, reconciliation or regulatory controls tooling.
- Previous experience working with complex financial data and systems where accuracy, traceability and reliability are critical.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced, self-sufficient engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems and taking responsibility for the systems they build and maintain.
You should be comfortable acting as a technical point of contact, working directly with stakeholders and making decisions about what needs to be fixed, automated, improved or rebuilt. You will thrive in an environment where initiative, engineering judgement and practical delivery matter as much as technical knowledge.
Experience in regulatory technology is valuable, but the role will also suit an engineer with a strong software engineering foundation, an interest in financial markets and the motivation to learn a complex regulatory domain.
