Position Description

We are seeking a Systems & Controls Production Team Leader to join our team in Bradford. In this role, you will oversee daily panel shop operations, mentor technicians, and ensure our critical cooling and BMS control panels meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Acting as a "player-coach," you will balance team management with hands-on electrical assembly and testing when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, motivate, and direct the panel shop team to hit output targets. Manage shift timekeeping, attendance, and mentor new and existing technicians ensuring SOM’s & Electrical Standards are met.
  • Operational Execution: Execute the production plan, run daily briefings, maintain visual management boards, and support hands-on panel wiring/assembly when needed.
  • Quality & Testing: Conduct point-to-point electrical testing when required, verify QA documentation, and manage component non-conformances using digital quality systems.
  • Workflow & Stock Coordination: Liaising and working with the Electrical Team leader to prioritize and stage job packs and components prior to builds, liaise with design engineers to resolve drawing queries/ECNs, and maintain workshop consumable stocks.
  • HSE Champion: Enforce electrical safety, safe isolation procedures, point-of-work risk assessments (POWRA), and maintain high 5S/housekeeping standards.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Qualifications: Time-served Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) and C&G 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Technical Experience: Proven background in electrical control panel assembly, wiring & crimping. Ability to read complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings fluently.
  • Testing: Hands-on experience with dead/live point-to-point electrical and insulation resistance testing
  • Digital Literacy: Competent in standard PC tools (MS Office / Outlook / Excel) for production logging, schedule printing, and document scanning/uploading.

Desirable

  • Qualifications in Safety or Management (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely, C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing, ILM/CMI Level 2/3).
  • Experience with HVAC, BMS, or Critical Cooling control panel systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing (5S, Kaizen) and digital management tools (QIS, Zellis).

The successful candidate will have a high level of communication skill and a positive attitude toward change and learning new skills, the ability to work pro-actively utilizing their own initiative, have strong attention to detail and a desire and ability to foster a healthy team ethic.
