Test Lead | FinTech | SaaS | Hybrid | London
We are looking for an experienced Test Lead to own and evolve the quality and testing strategy for our award-winning Client Lifecycle Management SAAS platform.
This is a senior, influential role combining strategic leadership with practical technical involvement. You will establish effective testing standards, improve quality engineering practices, guide the appropriate layering of automated testing and help engineering teams build quality into every stage of the software development lifecycle.
We are primarily interested in your ability to own strategy, influence engineering teams and drive sustainable improvements. Experience with our specific technology stack would be valuable, but it is not essential.
Who are we?
Wealth Dynamix is a leading provider of Client Lifecycle Management technology to private banks, wealth managers and investment firms.
Our award-winning SaaS platform helps organisations streamline operations, maintain regulatory compliance and deliver exceptional client experiences throughout the client lifecycle.
We are a growing global FinTech business delivering innovative, cloud-based technology solutions to a prestigious international client base.
What is the role?
The Test Lead will be the senior testing and quality engineering authority within the CLMi Engineering organisation.
You will own and evolve the overall product testing strategy, establish appropriate standards and provide direction on testing practices across multiple engineering teams.
Working closely with Engineering Managers, Lead Engineers, Principal Engineers, developers and testers, you will promote a culture in which quality is a shared engineering responsibility.
This is not a conventional people-management position. Your impact will come through technical credibility, strategic ownership, coaching and your ability to influence teams and senior stakeholders.
You will maintain sufficient hands-on involvement to understand current challenges, review testing approaches, investigate complex quality issues and ensure the strategy is delivering measurable improvements.
Your objectives
- Own and evolve the CLMi product testing and quality engineering strategy.
- Promote a culture in which quality is shared across the engineering organisation.
- Improve the consistency, effectiveness and maturity of testing practices.
- Define appropriate testing standards, principles and governance.
- Establish the appropriate layering of testing across unit, integration, API, UI and end-to-end levels.
- Shape automation strategy and improve the reliability and maintainability of automated test suites.
- Embed risk-based testing throughout planning, development and release activities.
- Improve testability, defect prevention and the use of meaningful quality metrics.
- Coach testers, developers and engineers in effective quality practices.
- Ensure release decisions are supported by appropriate quality evidence.
Responsibilities
Quality leadership and strategy
- Act as the recognised subject matter expert for software testing and quality engineering.
- Own, communicate and continuously improve the CLMi product testing strategy.
- Establish testing principles, standards and governance across engineering teams.
- Promote quality as an engineering-wide responsibility rather than an activity owned exclusively by testers.
- Influence teams and senior stakeholders without relying on direct line-management authority.
- Challenge testing practices that are ineffective, overly manual or difficult to sustain.
- Help teams balance delivery priorities against product, technical and operational risk.
Testing architecture and governance
- Define how testing should be distributed across unit, component, integration, API, UI and end-to-end layers.
- Encourage testing at the earliest practical stage of the software development lifecycle.
- Guide teams in their use of functional, exploratory and automated testing.
- Ensure testing remains proportionate to technical complexity, business criticality and delivery risk.
- Review the effectiveness of existing testing practices and lead improvement initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate quality evidence is available to support release decisions.
Automation and CI/CD
- Provide strategic direction for automated testing frameworks and implementation approaches.
- Promote reliable, maintainable and scalable test automation.
- Ensure appropriate integration and layering of automated testing in the CI/CD delivery pipeline.
- Improve automated feedback cycles and reduce unreliable or low-value tests.
- Support the review of automation code, test architecture and engineering practices.
- Help teams determine which tests should run at different stages of the delivery pipeline.
Non-functional quality
- Provide direction on performance, load, stress, scalability and capacity testing.
- Promote security-focused testing and validation practices.
- Encourage accessibility considerations throughout design, development and testing.
- Support effective test environment and test data management.
- Consider application deployment, runtime behaviour and observability as part of the overall quality strategy.
Coaching and capability development
- Coach and mentor testers, developers and quality engineers across multiple teams.
- Facilitate the sharing of knowledge and effective practices through communities of practice.
- Identify testing and quality engineering capability gaps.
- Develop practical standards, guidance and reusable examples.
- Help teams become more self-sufficient in their ownership of quality.
Hands-on contribution
- Participate in exploratory and functional testing when appropriate.
- Support API, integration and end-to-end testing activities.
- Investigate complex defects, production issues and recurring quality problems.
- Analyse test results, production defects and quality metrics.
- Contribute to root-cause analysis and defect-prevention initiatives.
- Participate in refinement, planning, delivery and release activities.
- Review technical testing approaches and automation implementations.
Who is best suited to this role?
Essential experience
- Extensive experience in software testing and quality engineering.
- Experience owning and implementing a product-level testing strategy.
- Strong knowledge of risk-based testing techniques.
- Experience defining the appropriate layering of testing across complex software products.
- Significant experience with test automation strategy, frameworks and governance.
- Strong API and integration testing knowledge.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD delivery pipelines.
- The ability to influence engineering teams and senior stakeholders without direct line-management authority.
- Experience coaching testers, developers or automation engineers.
- Strong technical investigation, defect analysis and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience working in an Agile software product or enterprise SaaS environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Functional and exploratory testing.
- Unit, integration, API, UI and end-to-end testing approaches.
- Browser-based test automation.
- API and contract testing.
- CI/CD quality controls and automated test execution.
- Performance, load and scalability testing.
- Security-focused testing practices.
- SQL and data validation.
- Monitoring and observability principles.
- Test environment and test data management.
Desirable technology exposure
- Experience with our specific tools is not essential, but familiarity with some of the following would be beneficial:
- Cypress for automated UI and integrated testing.
- BrowserStack for orchestrating integrated or cross-browser test execution.
- C# and .NET testing environments.
- xUnit or similar unit and integration test frameworks.
- GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Angular client applications.
- PostgreSQL databases.
- Kubernetes-based application deployment and runtime environments.
- Grafana or similar monitoring and observability platforms.
We do not necessarily expect the Test Lead to write production-level unit or integration tests in C#. However, you should be comfortable understanding how these tests are structured, layered and executed within CI/CD pipelines.
Why should you apply?
- Own and shape the quality strategy for a market-leading FinTech SaaS platform.
- Influence engineering practices across multiple cross-functional teams.
- Work on a complex platform used by leading wealth management organisations.
- Take on a senior role where success is driven by influence, technical credibility and strategic ownership.
- Work with modern development, automation, CI/CD, container and observability technologies.
- Join a collaborative engineering organisation committed to continuous improvement.
- Benefit from flexible hybrid working and opportunities for professional development.
- We believe we offer career-defining opportunities
If you are passionate about quality engineering, can turn strategy into practical improvements and enjoy influencing how teams design, build and test software, we would love to hear from you.
Specific experience with our technology stack would be an advantage, but the most important requirement is your ability to own the testing strategy and drive meaningful quality improvements across the engineering organisation.
