We support them in making a meaningful difference to the people and communities they serve - our clients include some of the biggest brands in the UK and worldwide. For you, it means more to make an impact that matters, through challenging projects which demand ambitious innovation and thought leadership.

  • Be part of an exciting team where you will be challenged every day.
  • Work closely with the range of teams within the business to bring products to life.
  • Work with customers and identify opportunities to support their strategy and improve their processes across functions.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Test Lead with strong experience across test analysis, test design, defect management, and stakeholder engagement, with a primary focus on User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

The successful candidate will work closely with Test Management, Project Managers, Business Analysts, technology teams, and business stakeholders to ensure testing activities are effectively planned, executed, monitored, and reported.

The Test Lead will be responsible for understanding key programme/project testing requirements and success criteria and applying the organisation’s test strategy, governance framework, and documentation standards.

This is a business-facing role, requiring excellent communication and relationship-building skills alongside strong testing expertise. The successful candidate should be comfortable engaging with both business and technology stakeholders and advocating for the importance and value of effective testing throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed test plans using approved templates, covering scope, approach, roles and responsibilities, governance, processes, and testing activities.
  • Review business and technical requirements and provide feedback to ensure they are clear, complete, and testable.
  • Analyse project documentation to quickly understand the proposed technology solution and contribute effectively to project discussions.
  • Work closely with Programme and Project Managers to develop testing schedules and determine the resources required to support testing activities.
  • Lead testing activities with a strong focus on UAT, while remaining hands-on with test execution where required.
  • Develop test scenarios and test cases based on business and functional requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of test execution results within JIRA or the designated test management tool for project governance and audit purposes.
  • Ensure defects are properly documented, analysed, prioritised, tracked, and managed through to resolution.
  • Produce regular reporting on testing progress, defect statistics, defect resolution, risks, and issues for project leadership.
  • Coordinate release schedules to minimise disruption to testing activities and the overall project timeline.
  • Proactively identify testing and project issues, determine appropriate corrective actions, and escalate where necessary.
  • Produce end-of-phase testing reports summarising results and providing the information required to support project sign-off decisions.
  • Actively participate in project phase-end reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of testing activities.

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate should have

  • Previous experience leading a team of test professionals and/or technology professionals.
  • Strong hands-on experience across test analysis, test design, test execution, defect management, and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of investment management back-office data and processes.
  • Strong experience with JIRA or similar test management and defect-tracking tools such as Quality Center or Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Expert understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Quality Assurance concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools aligned with ISTQB principles.
  • Strong analytical skills, including hands-on experience creating test scenarios and test cases from requirements documentation and executing those tests.
  • Experience working collaboratively across business and technology teams.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to contribute positively to resolving project issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to be assertive while remaining diplomatic and professional.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with business stakeholders quickly.
  • A self-motivated and organised approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple testing priorities.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Extensive testing experience within the Financial Services industry, particularly Asset Management.
  • Experience with fund accounting.
  • Experience supporting the migration of services, systems, and data to a Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
  • Experience with data acquisition, data transformation, data-quality validation/checks, and data presentation.
  • Previous experience leading or supporting complex UAT programmes involving multiple business and technology stakeholders.
