Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Transition Manager to lead and manage the end-to-end transition of software product engineering services. The successful candidate will be responsible for transition planning, knowledge transfer, onboarding, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring a seamless handover from incumbent teams to the incoming engineering organisation.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex product engineering transitions, structured knowledge transfer, wave-based transition planning, and workforce transition processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute the end-to-end transition plan, milestones, deliverables, and governance activities.
• Lead software product engineering transitions, ensuring business continuity and minimal operational disruption.
• Manage structured knowledge transfer (KT) activities between incumbent and incoming engineering teams.
• Develop and execute wave-based transition plans, stage gates, readiness assessments, and transition acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate repository access, development tools, infrastructure access, and technical onboarding.
• Oversee Tier 3 technical support handover, including documentation, escalation procedures, and operational readiness.
• Manage relationships and communications with incumbent service providers, engineering teams, and stakeholders.
• Track transition risks, dependencies, issues, and mitigation actions.
• Coordinate workforce transition activities with awareness of TUPE regulations and associated obligations.
• Provide transition progress reports, governance updates, and readiness assessments to senior stakeholders.

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 10+ years of relevant IT experience.
• Experience successfully managing at least 2 comparable transitions.
• Proven experience in software product engineering transitions.
• Strong expertise in structured knowledge transfer methodologies and transition documentation.
• Experience with wave-based transition planning, stage gates, and transition governance.
• Experience managing technical onboarding, including repositories, tools, systems, and access.
• Understanding of Tier 3 support handover and incumbent-to-new-provider transitions.
• Knowledge of TUPE-aware workforce transition processes.

Desirable Certifications

• PMP or PRINCE2
• ITIL Certification
