Distribution Centre Manager
Job Description
The role
As Site Manager at our Motherwell Regional Service Centre, you will play a pivotal role in leading, motivating, and developing a dynamic team of 170 people across warehousing and transport operations. To set you up for success, NEXT offers the support, resources, and collaborative environment you need to lead your site effectively and continue growing as a senior leader.
We offer the successful candidate a compettive starting salary and a host of benefits including a comapny car, executive share allocation and private medical insurance.
What You'll Take On
- Drive the overall safe performance, operational efficiency, and service delivery for the Motherwell site.
- Lead and inspire two Assistant Site Managers directly, providing guidance to a wider team of 170+ warehouse and transport colleagues.
- Take full ownership of the site budget, using structured planning to manage staffing and vehicle resources cost-effectively.
- Align resource planning and scheduling with seasonal volume forecasts to ensure consistent service levels.
- Produce regular operational reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal) covering key metrics such as volume, resource allocation, and spend.
- Maintain complete compliance with road transport regulations and 'O'-Licence requirements at all times.
- Collaborate with peers across the wider distribution network to share best practice, streamline processes, and unlock cost savings.
What You'll Bring
- Senior leadership experience gained within a large corporate distribution, transport, or logistics environment.
- A Transport Manager CPC qualification and a solid, up-to-date knowledge of national Road Transport Regulations.
- Strong, open, and authentic people management skills, with a track record of supporting, coaching, and developing talent within large teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- A proactive, solution-focused mindset that challenges the status quo and drives continuous operational improvement.
- Strong organisation and budget management skills, with the ability to handle complex priorities in a fast-paced environment.
