About Homeprotect
Cover for Almost every Home
We founded Homeprotect on a simple principle - to provide protection to people underserved by the home insurance industry. Since 2002, we've been combining smart technology with real human expertise to protect hundreds of thousands of unique homes across the UK, and we're just getting started.
If you're someone who loves solving interesting problems, taking ownership and working with a team that aims high, speaks up and lifts each other, Homeprotect is a place where you can do meaningful work, grow your career and make a real difference for our customers.
What It's Like To Work Here
Our customers come from all walks of life and so do our people. We're a small but perfectly formed team of insurance specialists, technologists, data scientists and customer champions - all bringing individual expertise, an appetite for innovation and a shared ambition to protect the homes and things people love.
We work at pace, but we trust our people to work in a way that brings out their best. You'll collaborate closely across teams, have real ownership from day one and see the impact you have first-hand with flexible working to help you balance the needs of your role with the rhythm of your life.
We've been recognised as a Great Place to Work UK for seven consecutive years - most recently ranked 29th nationally, jumping 71 places in a single year.
ROLE PURPOSE
Sitting within our tight-knit Marketing team and reporting to the Head of Marketing, you'll own our SEO and GEO channel end to end - setting the strategy and rolling up your sleeves to deliver it day to day.
We've invested in SEO for years and are making fantastic strides in GEO (we were the first UK insurer to add llms.txt and WebMCP to our site), and with ambitious plans to more than double in size over the next five years, organic and AI search will be fundamental to getting us there.
You'll make sure that we stay ahead of the latest developments in how customers use AI, and that wherever people research home insurance - from Google to ChatGPT and beyond - Homeprotect is visible, trusted and recommended. If you love trying out new AI tools, you'll have plenty of room to experiment and put the best ideas to work in the market.
Key Responsibilities
Channel strategy & delivery
- Set the SEO and GEO strategy and execute initiatives to achieve sales and customer lifetime value targets via organic and AI search, working closely with the Head of Marketing.
- Own the day to day management of the www.homeprotect.co.uk website and technical SEO - getting into the weeds of CMS updates in WordPress and using Google Tag Manager to deploy structured data where relevant - as well as working with our WordPress agency to ensure our site is secure, fast, crawlable and easy for search engines and LLMs to find, understand and cite. You'll also help make sure the site is ready for AI agents to buy insurance on behalf of customers.
- Stay ahead of how customers research, consider, buy and renew home insurance, including how they use AI. We expect personal AI agents to play a big part in the customer journey, so you'll track developments in this space and champion the changes we need to make to adapt.
- Grow our visibility across whichever LLMs and AI search tools people use to research home insurance, maintaining our excellent sentiment and share of voice scores while increasing how often we're cited and recommended and our overall visibility.
- Work closely with our Senior Brand and Comms Manager on SEO content and digital PR, helping draft and review content and supporting the effort to secure high-DA backlinks.
- Work closely with our Performance Marketing Lead to ensure learnings are shared across SEO, GEO and PPC, and that the channels work in a complementary way to expand our reach and achieve our ambitious growth targets.
- Proactively suggest and implement tests and optimisations, staying abreast of algorithm updates, AI search developments, competitor activity and emerging technologies to keep us ahead of the curve.
Reporting & MI
- Own SEO and GEO reporting end to end, using a combination of our own internal data warehouse data, GA4, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and Semrush to track the full funnel - from rankings and AI visibility through web visits, quote starts and quote completes, to sales and customer lifetime value.
- Turn performance data into clear insight on what is and isn't working, providing regular summaries and recommendations for stakeholders, including senior leaders.
Stakeholder management
- This role involves managing a wide range of stakeholders - from teams across Homeprotect all the way up to the Senior Leadership Team, to external agency partners.
- Manage our SEO and WordPress agency partners to deliver against customer and commercial objectives, while being self-sufficient enough to get things done directly when needed.
- Make the case across the business for changes to our website and customer experience, so we cater for AI agents as well as people.
- Work closely with internal team members across Marketing, Customer Experience, Underwriting, Pricing, Data and Compliance to deliver business outcomes.
Team support/projects
- Since we are a relatively small team, pitch in to support on other channels and activities wherever needed, working with people from across the business such as our Technology, Pricing and Operational teams to help meet business goals.
Compliance
- Work closely with Compliance to ensure all website, content and search activity is fully compliant and approved, adhering to Consumer Duty and any other relevant legislation and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
We would love to hear from people with the following skills and experience for this role:
Essential
- Proven experience of growing organic search performance and sales in a commercial environment, both setting the strategy and delivering it hands-on.
- Strong technical SEO and GEO knowledge, including site audits, optimising for query fan out, crawlability, site speed and structured data/schema.
- An excellent communicator, able to share results with stakeholders at all levels and make a persuasive case for change.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills - able to co-ordinate complex workstreams across multiple teams and work to get the most from our agency partners.
- Hands-on experience of making updates in a CMS (ideally WordPress) and deploying tags or structured data via Google Tag Manager.
- A genuine interest in, and working knowledge of, GEO and AI search - including how LLMs source, cite and recommend brands.
- A real love of using AI tools, at work and in everyday life, and a fascination with how both experts and customers use them.
- Confident using GA4, Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to analyse performance and report on key KPIs across the full funnel.
- Experience of drafting and reviewing SEO content and supporting digital PR or link-building activity.
- Proven experience of managing agencies to deliver against commercial objectives.
- A self-starter who is highly organised, able to juggle a busy workload & prioritise accordingly in order to deliver against commercial objectives.
- Takes personal responsibility to ensure all activity is fully compliant and approved by all relevant parties.
Desirable
- Experience of using Semrush or similar tool for SEO and GEO reporting.
- Experience in insurance, financial services or another regulated industry.
- Experience of implementing emerging AI search standards such as llms.txt or WebMCP.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS or JavaScript.
- Working knowledge of SQL, or desire to learn.
